Six degrees of separation: Theory that anyone on the planet is connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries.
Way before we were roommates, V had this crush on this Juliano guy. He was quite charming, in fact. He was always wearing plaid shirts over (white?) t-shirts, and cargo pants. Or jeans. Anyway. My memory might be playing tricks on me, but I think this whole thing with him was pretty platonic. I never even talked to him, and I think V didn't either. We behaved pretty much like a couple of giggly teenage girls around him.
Cut. Forward a few years. Saw his name on a list of members of the same group I participated in - Bookcrossing. Almost dropped a line, why not say hi, you don't know me but i know you, on second thought, that sounds silly, better leave it well alone. Thought about dropping V a line to tell her hey, remember Juliano, but also dropped the thought. Anyway.
Earlier today I was looking for more info on Twitter. Found a lot of things, some interesting and others otherwise, and, once again, ran into my (now) old friend Juliano. He writes about stuff. He writes a lot, and well. I'm still exploring his blog/site, so more on it later. All I can tell you right now is that probably most of it is waaaaaay above my head. Oh well.
And then there's my dear friend Carol. As it happens, she knows this guy Eduardo. So I was introduced to Edu, with whom I chat online on and off. Eduardo is super cool, and writes, too (for a living) - how's that for a major turn-on? And like me and V and Juliano, he was once an AFSer.
So as I was browsing Juliano's site, of course Eduardo's name pops out from one of his posts. It turns out they too are friends. Click. Or zzzzzzz... plop. Here we are. Connected again. Me, V, Carol, Eduardo, Juliano. Or in any other order it might please you.
We're all in this together, someone once said. And ain't that true? As I write this I like to think that God (the Big G) must be chuckling somewhere, noticing I'm onto him and his schemes. So you've connected us all, huh? Brilliant plan.
